Version 5.000.01 Release Notes 5th September 2007

This major release contains significant user interface changes, and Contact module and WebForm structure changes.

Version 5.000.01 contains several minor bug fixes from version 5.000.00. We recommend upgrading to this version.

Note: Existing version 4 customers need to be running at least version 4.624.00 prior to upgrading to version 5. The setup process is the same as any other BrowserCRM upgrade.

The Contact address structure changes mean clients with custom fields in the Address modules and custom WebForms written for version 4 should contact BrowserCRM to discuss upgrading.

Clients considering upgrading from Version 4 are invited to view the changes through the BrowserCRM Live Demo.


Version 5.000.00 Release Notes 31st August 2007

BrowserCRM version 5 is available for download.


Note: Existing version 4 customers need to be running at least version 4.624.00 prior to upgrading to version 5. Upgrading to version 5 is the same as any other BrowserCRM upgrade. In this version, the online setup script will upgrade your installation to 4.999 first. This makes all the necessary changes from version 4 to version 5. After this, you will need to click the 'Setup' link again and re-enter your database password to make the final changes to upgrade the system to version 5.

Version 4.624.80 Release Notes 28rd May 2007

Minor release. Improved handling of utf-8 character set. Necessary for inputting and displayed various non iso-8859-* languages.
New installations: during setup, click the 'advanced settings' link on the database setup screen and select 'utf-8' from the charset dropdown.
Existing installations: manually edit the browsercrm/config.inc.php file and alter the setting
$config['charset'] = 'iso-8859-1';
to
$config['charset'] = 'utf-8';
You will need to rebuild the cache after making this change.
Log in to BrowserCRM as an Administrator.
Click 'Settings'.
Click 'Manage Installation'.
Click 'Rebuild Cache'

Calendar, Files - alternative list page data options added.

Import - bug fix. Imported data assigned correctly to company or person (whichever exists) .

Files - version lists. Can view a saved files version history and upload a new version of a file.

Various modules: Display links in text fields. When viewing textareas in various modules, URLs and email addresses are displayed as links. URLs open in a new browser window/tab. Email addresses link to the BrowserCRM email compose page.

Version 4.624.50 Release Notes 10th April 2007

Minor release.

Data Cleanup - Contact display name format can be updated for all people based on the default 'Person Name Format' preference.
To run the script:
Click 'Settings' | 'Manage Installation' | Cleanup Data'. Select 'People' and press 'Submit'.
To change the display name format: Click 'Settings', scroll down to the 'People' row. Click 'Default' (preferences). Set the 'Person Name format'. Tick both checkboxes (override for all users, block users from altering the preference). Click 'Submit'.

Mail - minor error logging improvement for unknown multipart mime decoding.

Memo module - Added a new filter 'Active' to display all inbox and sent items that have not been archived or deleted.

Opportunities module - Total Amount summary displayed on list, desktop, and contact view screens. This is the total amount for all items in the current list. When paging is in effect, click 'Show All' to reload the list page and update the total amount.

Mail - Empty Trash functionality implemented. From the Mail 'Trash' filter, users can delete all items they have the right to edit with one click. Requires the user to have write access to the Mail module, and the 'Allow Mail Delete' preference set accordingly.

Mail - email attachments functionality and display improved.

Mail - pop account test. Users can test settings for receive accounts from the receive account view page.

Mail - bug fix - previous actions display change.

General - database security measures enhanced.

Account - language text processed for main filters.

Preferences - language text processed for skin names.

Various Modules - 'Last Update' field available in data options and Advanced Search filters.

Database - caching implemented for table information.

Default constraints can be applied to selected modules through user preferences. Allows a user to select one of the available constraints (Mine, Unseen, Alerts) to be used by default in a modules list page.

New skin. Click 'Settings' in the BrowserCRM menu and then 'Select Skin' to choose your preferred skin.

Contact view setup - can optionally show item count, alert count, and select how many items to show in each contact piece. Users can change any or all of these options to have greater control over the content displayed on contact view pages.

Recent Items:
Added 'None' as an option to the 'Modules included in Recent Items' preference. Prevents the 'Recent Items' piece from loading in every page. Use this option to speed up page loads.

Calendar:
New appointments loaded with the users 'Alert In Advance' and 'Alert End' preferences.

Bulk Edit:
'Meta' fields cannot be updated as part of a bulk edit. Meta fields include the Created By and Created Date fields.

Database service:
Improved performance for custom field queries.

Improved html standards compliance.
Menu links for each module default to a non-filtered list page.
Files module sub menu items load the Files list page in 'Custom View' mode.

Mail:
Added a 'Templates' link to Mail list page and Mail contact view piece. The link displays a list of templates making it easier to create a new email based on a template. This is an extension of the 'Reply' using a template functionality added in 4.607. Current supported modules are:

WebMAT: Mass create
Available from any list page containing contacts. Individually select the items using the item checkboxes or click 'Check All', then choose the 'Use Contacts' option from the 'With Selected' dropdown and the bottom of the list page. Displays a list of modules that support the 'Mass Create' functionality. Choose a module to create a new item for each selected contact.

List page search filters:
Enhancements for storing and building on previous searches, including advanced searches and bookmarked searches.

Mail:
After deleting an email, dont return to the view page for that email
When replying to an email, use the users default send account as a fallback
On mail view pages, the Reply link has a clickable menu to allow a user to reply using a template.

Module Editor:
Behind the scenes changes for improved functionality.

Search:
User preferences for search type, module scope, and maximum results per module.

Bookmarks:
Added 'priority' field to list view. This is useful for determining which bookmarks are displayed in the Bookmarks piece on the menu.

Menu:
Changes to 'Menu Setup'. Options for not processing alerts in the menu (per module).
Help link is a pop-up only - no longer loads anything in the main content frame.

WebMAT:
Append Only fields are no longer "required" when editing an existing item.

Tasks:
Corrected bug for 'New' Task link (incorrectly calculating task type - priority or standard).

Calendar:
Status values can be edited, but not deleted. New status values not allowed (Calendar status values have particular meaning).

System:
Stage One of archived user code implemented. When a User is "deleted", the system stores a record of that user so that it is viewable in existing data items. As before, deleted users are not counted for licencing purposes.

Validation:
Fixed Firefox long regular expression bug for email validation.

Version 4.605.00 Release Notes

Most modules:
- The 'Creator' and 'Created' fields are now displayed by default on list, view, and edit pages.
These fields are searchable and sortable, and also available as part of 'Advanced' searches.

Contact View:
Creator field added to page.
Reordered Meta fields: Creator, Created, Last Updated, Last Activity, followed by Permissions fields.

Contact List: 'Last Update' also now available in Advanced filters.

Version 4.604.01 Release Notes

Improved New Contact / Contact Edit form. Enables adding or editing a Company and Person on the same form.

The Contact list data option is updated by this version. Use the Module Editor to add custom fields to the Contact List page.
