Configuring your server with PHP and MySQL

PHP and MySQL are the only requirements to run BrowserCRM Server.

That means you can use any hardware, any operating system that supports PHP and MySQL. This includes Linux, Windows, Mac and FreeBSD and includes 64 bit operating systems.

Windows

On Windows, we recommend http://wampserver.com/en

But you should first consider our Recommended Hosting Companies

Windows with IIS

If you really want to use IIS, see: http://www.peterguy.com/php/install_IIS6.html

http://www.iis-aid.com/articles/how_to_guides/installing_php_5_on_iis_in_5_simple_steps

http://nz2.php.net/install.windows

We recommend using Apache rather than IIS on Windows as Apache works better with PHP.

IIS may be buggy running PHP applications:

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

Linux

We recommend Debian Etch with it's wonderful apt-get installer. Step-by-step setup for Debian Etch coming soon.

Web Hosts (Linux/FreeBSD)

Virtual Machine

Contact us to inquire.

We will soon release a downloadable Linux (Debian) Virtual Machine pre-configured with BrowserCRM Server for the free VMWare Player.

Mac

Check out MAMP Server for Mac OSX.
